First class in a new city..

After moving back from Toronto to Ottawa, I was worried my experience in the big city and the spinning trends I came to love wouldn't translate well back home. I became accustomed to having an instructor who seldom rode along with us and a track list that included my favourites such as Kanye. Such practices and swear-riddled songs  would not be so welcomed back home so I am left to navigate my new practice.

Spinning has been the most effective stress-reliever for me and I have put it to the test many times. I've wanted to become an instructor for the past year, an ambition heavily motivated by my "I can do it better" attitude and my general music snobbishness. I hope I can motivate others the way I have been motivated and inspired throughout the years and would love to one day gain "favourite teacher" status.

First class was last Saturday and boy was I nervous!!!!! Did not know where the mic was and didn't know how to work it if I could get over the initial hurdle of finding it, so I screamed out instructions the entire class. Despite this, my track list was an absolute hit and one woman even told me I was her favourite! Mission already accomplished.

Track list -September 15

Disparate Youth- Santigold
Houdini- Foster the People
How Soon is Now?- The Smiths
Body Work- Tegan and Sarah
Back to Black- Amy Winehouse

For instructors looking to find a great seated 1st, up in 2nd and up in 3rd transition (8 counts each), I recommend the DFA remix of Paper Planes

I've got a great group and cannot wait until my next week
